Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

Current requests for increase in protection level
Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Reason: Requesting an Extended confirmed protection. Consistent reverting to a band that does not belong in the The Jacksons chronology section for previous album. The album that is consistently put back on the list is from Jackson 5 and not from the band The Jacksons. Needs to be locked for further consistent back and forth reverting mess. Semi-protected for a period of two days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. BusterD (talk) 11:38, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
Reason: The page "Kakan Rajputs" has been subject to persistent vandalism and disruptive edits over the past few days. Some users have repeatedly inserted false or unsourced information, removed well-cited content, and engaged in edit wars despite warnings. This has led to a continuous need for reversion and moderation, affecting the reliability and credibility of the page. ZypheriZ (talk) 19:22, 19 February 2025 (UTC)

Reason: Persistent addition of unsourced content. Waxworker (talk) 20:33, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
Reason: The GA status of this article about one of the UK's most notable schools has been nullified by persistent additions of unsourced trivia and PoV and general interference over the years by IP editors. School articles attract a lot of nonsense. There is a project to restore this article to GA but it firstneeds first to be long-term protected. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 21:26, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: BLP policy violations. (CC) Tbhotch™ 22:09, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Over the past couple of days, I've edit warred back-and-forth with an IP over the fact that Griffin Peebles participated in the Abu Dhabi round instead of Dan Skocdopole. The IP has continued to revert my edits, even after listing multiple proofs on the article's talk page. I would like to request at least a temporary semi-protected page status. For more details and context, please check this discussion at the ANI here. SportscarFan2004 (talk) 23:11, 19 February 2025 (UTC)

Temporary pending changes: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Has happened on a slow basis. IanDBeacon (talk) 23:25, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism/disruptive editing by IP users. I've tried to get to the bottom of what their issue is on their talk page; rather than answering, they continue the disruptive editing. Swinub★ 23:27, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Nothing much to edit here, last 50 edits were either reverted or a revert. Myrealnamm (💬Let's talk · 📜My work) 00:19, 20 February 2025 (UTC)

Reason: IP edit warrior back again, recommend banning person and doing short padlock. If edit warrior wants to provide evidence the tartar sauce is NOT made by Food Specialties, despite the fact there was even a way to mail order, which went to Food Specialties, let me know JrStudios The Wikipedian (talk) 09:56, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of three months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. BusterD (talk) 11:36, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Spokeoino Keeps removing a redirected page and replacing the content with a biography despite another editor ( https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ali_Niknam&oldid=1276379150 ) having marked the article as not being notable. Rather than using the talk page; they are removing the redirect.
Attempted to inform this user of Notability guidelines but they just won't listen. They don't seem to be discussing the issue. ♥ Melody ♥ 09:59, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Relevant to WP:ARBPIA, should be ECP. Thanks!. Smallangryplanet (talk) 10:25, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Lectonar (talk) 10:50, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Lectonar in this case, rather than recent activity, shouldn't the article being in the PIA CTOP make it relevant for ECP? I've seen articles with even less activity get protected for this reason. Just today the Chief of the General Staff (Israel) was ECP'd and it barely sees any activity, so I'm curious why this one needs to meet a higher standard. Smallangryplanet (talk) 11:33, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
Reason: To protect the page the page from vandalism from IP's or unregistered users. Currently not edited by any IP's but in future it can. I think it is useless to request for this page protection but I'm requesting to prevent vandalism in future. Thanks Sackiii (talk) 11:28, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Current requests for edits to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
I would like to request if my son's page could be restored. I just learned that since his passing in 2018 that the page he created prior to is no longer found. I am his father and would like to update it and protect it for all time. Please let me know if you are able to assist or where I should look for such.
Blessings, Ron
- There's never been any article at that title on the English Wikipedia. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 06:36, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- I think this could be read as Jhaysonn Pathak was a contributor here and created a page, title unknown, but there is no user account of that name either. I left a message on the IP talk page. — Malcolmxl5 (talk) 11:23, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
